4. BRIDGE -comparison of living conditions of disabled youth from Poland, Ukraine and UK
The aim of the 'Bridge' project and the 'Polish-Ukrainian Bridge to Equality' project was increasing participation of disabled young people in social, economic, cultural and civic life according to European standards. During its implementation a Polish-British –Ukrainian group of 27 young disabled people took part in peer education workshops in which they studied and compared access by disabled people to the following areas of life - education, health care, sports, culture and employment - mostly in terms of architectural and technical accessibility of public places. The participants were students/patients of the 'Step by Step Foundation of Help for Disabled Children in Zamosc, The Percy Hedley Foundation in Newcastle and the AJURWEDA Association of Help for Disabled Children and their Families in Bila Cerkva.
Their work consisted in experiencing barriers in the above listed areas of life in Poland in person and then comparing the living conditions in the three countries.

The disabled young people discussed their relevant experiences during a public debate organized within the Project on 25 June 2008. Participants were listened to by representatives of the local authorities who were invited to the debate.
